Walker County Republican Women-February 24, 2025 Dr. Audrey Young, a member of the Texas State Board of Education, District 8, which covers 11 counties, including Walker County, will be the guest speaker at the February 24, 2025, meeting of the Walker County Republican Women’s club. Dr. Young’s topic will explain how public-school districts develop and adopt curriculums and the role that the State Board plays in the process. Audrey Young was elected to the State Board of Education in November 2020 representing parts of the Greater Houston and Southeast Texas area. She received undergraduate degrees from the University of Central Florida, graduate degrees in curriculum and instruction, an educational specialist degree in educational leadership, and a Doctor of Education from Stephen F. Austin State University. Her career spans over 30 years in public education. This event begins with networking and lunch at 11:00a.m. and a brief business meeting at 11:30a.m., followed by Dr. Young’s presentation.
