Join the Sam Houston Memorial Museum on Tuesday, July 30 for A Stitchin’ Time; an evening of learning the two basic stitches in knitting: the knit stitch and the purl stitch, as well as a simple "cast-on" and "bind-off” while making a face/dish cloth. Participants will get to take their project home. For the class, each person will need: A ball of "worsted weight" cotton yarn (recommend a solid, light color because it is easier on the eyes and not too fussy for learning; a ball of Peaches & Cream yarn is about $2.25 at Walmart or Crafters' Secret yarn is about $2 at Hobby Lobby). A pair of size 5-9 knitting needles (cost about $5). A pad and pen to take notes. Workshop begins at 6:00 p.m. at the Gibbs Conference Hall (lower level) of the Katy & E. Don Walker, Sr. Education Center, 1402 19th Street. Please RSVP your spot today! For more information, contact Museum Curator of Education, Derrick Birdsall at 936-294-3153 or dcb031@shsu.edu.
